About Us

Our Mission

Our mission is to cultivate the ABCD’s (attitudes, behavior, communication, and discipline) in underserved youth through character-centered programs and activities, grounding them as good human beings. We honor Tony Gwynn's legacy by providing baseball and softball scholarships to underprivileged youth who share his passion for the sport. he loved. Additionally, we organize summer camps for music and character education school-based initiatives. We also support other local community programs and organizations that share our mission to serve disadvantaged youth and their families through charitable donations and assistance.

Gwynn Baseball

It was a dream of Tony Gwynn that he and his son, Tony Jr. to have a travel baseball teams for underserved youth. To preserve his dad's dream, Tony, Jr. has created and maintained seven travel ball teams for youth, ages 8-15. Our goal is to develop character-centered youth, who become leaders and change agents within their communities and the world-at-large. We use the game of baseball as a metaphor to introduce and equip the youth with real-world strategies that can be applied to their everyday lives, whether for problem-solving, resolving conflict, or building wholesome relatives. We are certain that the youth who are involved in our problem will have the fortitude and mindset to choose an alternate path leading from the social ills, often noted among youth considered at-risk.

The foundation provides each child with a baseball scholarship that covers the total all travel costs and all other necessary expenses, including uniforms, equipment, and tournament entry fees. We recognize that there are numerous issues that contribute to hardships the players' families face. One issue is often the lack of transportation, which could impede the players' getting to practice along with the tournaments. To mitigate this potential risk, our foundation provides transportation assistance for the participating families, namely gas cards and pickup services

Because we understand how poverty has shaped the backgrounds and family dynamics of most of our players. Therefore, to have meaningful impact in their lives, and to fulfill our mission, it is necessary that our commitment is not only tc the players, but also to their families. Toward this end, we are intentional in our poverty alleviation efforts to maximize the impact of our program on the players and their families. As the need arises for assistance related to food and housing we also provide grocery cards and general maintenance, such as roof repairs
